Broadturn Farm is a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farm located 10 miles from Portland, Maine that raises organic vegetables, poultry, and turkey, as well as natural lamb and pork. The property is in agricultural conservation with the Scarborough Land Conservation Trust. Formerly called the Keith Meserve Farm, the land is one of the largest farm properties in the Greater Portland area. It has 100 acres of open land and about 330 wooded acres. The historic farmhouse has been renovated with help from the community and the land is returning to agricultural production after years of dormancy.

The resident farmers are John Bliss and his wife, Stacy Brenner. Together, they operate the 100 member vegetable CSA and livestock operation. The community has been extremely supportive of the farm through the work of the Land Trust, as well as by joining the CSA, and purchasing farm products. Commitment to see this beautiful piece of land as active farmland comes from all sides.

The CSA 2008 membership list will come together in January so if you have interest in joining the vegetable CSA, or the pork or lamb shares, send an email and get on the waiting list. John or Stacy will email you in February about first payments and the details for the 2008 season.

Directions to Broadturn Farm

The farm is located at the intersection of Broadturn Rd and Rt.22. From Portland head west on Rt.22, turn left when you reach Broadturn Rd , and you are on the farm property. The woods eventually open up to fields. Continue to Hanson Rd , turn Right on Hanson to reach the parking area for Farm Camp. From Dunstan Corner in Scarborough , take Broadturn Rd north to the farm-- the last property before hitting route 22. To avoid traffic from Portland … take I-295 south to the Maine Mall/I-95N exit, veer right to Maine Mall/rt 114. Then, with mall in front of you, veer left, heading towards Payne Rd and signs for the airport. Turn left at the light onto Payne Rd. Follow to Homes Rd. Turn Right on Holmes follow for 3.9 miles. Turn right onto Broadturn Rd at the blinking red light. Continue for 2.4 miles and you are at the farm!
